Pumpkin Man
Pumpkin Man
When you visit the candle store you will see our grand piano, available for any musician to enjoy. On the wall above is the hand carved mirror made by the late great friend and amazing artist Michael Mealey. He had a wonderful sense of humor. In addition to the mirror, he carved some of the wood benches in the store. Actually, the frame was originally in the window of our first store in 1971 in old town Tempe on 5th street and we added the mirror years later when we moved to Prescott.
Pumpkin Man
This drawing was made sometime in the 1970's by Michael. He had volumes of sketch books and his cartoons were always silly and always made you smile. He used to carve plaques and wall sconces and we often sold our candles in a booth next to his at street craft fairs. We have one of his plaques in our home: "If we're skating on thin ice, we might as well dance."
I always think about Pumpkin Man every fall season when we display our pumpkin candles in the store.
